Info being made into sausagesI hope this blog is entertaining and informative|
I love information…
I always have

Discovering nuggets like: The world’s highest navigable body of water (Lake Titicaca) is at altitude 12,507 feet (3,812 meters);

A Puritan sumptuary law restricted the wearing of silver buttons or lace to those whose wealth was more than 200 pounds; or the fact that Titan’s weather is based on its methane cycle rather than our familiar water cycle is one of my greatest pleasures.

I enjoy leafing thru reference books because there are just so many interesting things to find!

So when I discovered the Internet in its monochrome text-only glory in 1992 and typed WWW – invoking the Lynx browser, it was pure catnip to me.

Soon, I had the first personal web site in Santa Cruz County, CA –
which was notable only because UC Santa Cruz was one of the early
ARPAnet (the Internet – before Al Gore’s 1991 HPCA opened it up for everyone to use) domains.

I recently decided to forget Internet 2.0 and Social Media and to
return to the Internet of 25 years ago to see if I could rekindle that
spark of the pure joy of discovery I found back then.

This blog is my attempt to share that experience. I hope to regularly
– maybe several times a week, post a set of three meaty links to things
that interest, amuse, or enlighten me – and hopefully you!
